GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) – This weekend marks the fiftieth anniversary of one among Gatlinburg’s oldest sights: Hillbilly Golf. Hillbilly Golf has been in enterprise since 1971, however the authentic proprietor, Shelby Boyd, purchased the land in 1969.

Common Supervisor Jim Howard advised WVLT Information that his father-in-law purchased the land earlier than he knew what he was going to do with it. Howard says Boyd sat on the backside of the hill for a day and a half earlier than determining what to do with it, and that’s how the concept for Hillbilly Golf was born.

Howard says he enjoys seeing households that preserve coming again. “Not a day goes by that we don’t have somebody are available in right here and say, , my grandfather introduced my father, my father introduced me, and now I’m bringing my kids; it’s positively a generational attraction,” Howard mentioned.

Boyd handed away in 2015 on the age of 93. He requested his two daughters to maintain the course within the household.
